Requirements
- •Engineering background and CI fluency with experience shipping and operating production systems
- •Strong debugging and systems thinking skills to reduce complex failures to actionable items
- •Comfortable being a recognisable public-facing voice
- •Good taste and judgment to differentiate between content and proof, protecting trust and avoiding hollow or inauthentic content
- •Clear technical communication with precision and empathy

- •Comfort working asynchronously in a high-trust environment owning problems end-to-end
What You'll Do
- •Ship production-grade reference implementations that show what “good” looks like with Buildkite
- •Build and maintain tools and plugins that solve real problems and raise the ecosystem bar
- •Respect public artifacts: versioned, documented, tested, and maintained with care
- •Show up with the distinct Buildkite point-of-view about CI, dev workflows, reliability, craft and the future
- •Create moments that make Buildkite feel alive such as sandboxes, immersive customer war stories, high-signal posts, hot takes with receipts, walkthroughs, behind-the-scenes builds, live demos, event moments, and community rituals
- •Show up consistently and visibly as part of the brand, being comfortable being known, quoted, and occasionally being wrong in public
- •Engage where CI conversations happen and earn trust by being technically precise, calm, and genuinely useful
- •Triage messy edge cases with customers and the community
- •Build tight loops with Prod/Eng/Support teams to address issues and improvements
- •Turn real customer work into credible proof to show how engineering teams utilize Buildkite
- •Capture raw material that makes stories compelling and believable
- •Co-create with customers and champions to help tell the story well without sanding off reality
- •Identify and nurture champions such as maintainers, power users, repeat contributors, and future speakers
- •Design community pathways for engineers to become users, practitioners, and public advocates
- •Operate with a lightweight cadence that scales beyond the individual including build, signal, proof, culture, and trust loops
- •Speak, demo, and teach in formats engineers respect including talks, workshops, livestreams, meetups, and events
- •Build relationships with maintainers and tool builders across the CI/CD ecosystem
Nice to Have
- •Experience building or maintaining CI platforms, developer tooling, plugins, or infrastructure at scale
- •Public technical proof such as OSS contributions, plugins, talks, deep technical writing, credible demos, or trusted community voice
- •Experience shaping developer-facing narrative and technically honest storytelling
- •Experience handling logistics for meetups, workshops, office hours, or community programs
- •Familiarity with devtool dynamics, credibility loops, ecosystems, champions, and product-centric growth in technical markets
