Requirements
- •5+ years professional backend engineering experience
- •Deep knowledge in distributed and event-driven systems
- •Deep event sourcing and distributed execution knowledge including consistency, ordering, replay, and failure modes
- •Strong API design and evolution skills including contract-first, backward-compatible change, versioning/deprecation, contract testing
- •Experience diagnosing and fixing performance under production load
- •Technical leadership skills including autonomous work, problem breakdown, pragmatic decision making, and mentoring
- •Strong communication and product sense including technical writing, remote collaboration, and product thinking
What You'll Do
- •Design, build, and evolve the event-sourced engine and its C8 REST/gRPC/MCP API including safe public-API evolution
- •Take on hard, ambiguous problems and lead them end-to-end
- •Ship high-impact engine features fast such as suspending and resuming individual process instances, and enabling AI agents to steer running processes
- •Ship resiliency, schema evolution, and observability features
- •Detect and optimize inefficient processing and data-access patterns across data stores
- •Level up the team and lead incidents including high-quality reviews, mentoring, and technical debates
Nice to Have
- •Experience with workflow automation or process orchestration (BPMN or similar)
- •Awareness of consensus/replication protocols like Raft, SWIM
- •Deep query-pattern optimization in RocksDB, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch and relational/Postgres
- •Solid JVM knowledge including memory model, concurrency, and performance
