Requirements
- •5+ years of proven experience as a Database Administrator with strong focus on Amazon Aurora MySQL
- •Deep expertise in both MySQL and PostgreSQL database administration
- •Strong proficiency in SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning
- •Experience with database migration tools (AWS DMS) and Change Data Capture (CDC) technologies
- •Knowledge of database schema change management tools and processes
- •Experience with cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS
- •Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
- •Strong communication and collaboration abilities in remote team environments
- •Willingness to participate in on-call rotation for database support
What You'll Do
- •Manage and maintain mission-critical database systems, particularly Amazon Aurora MySQL and PostgreSQL
- •Administer Aurora MySQL and PostgreSQL environments including managing database instances, clusters, and replicas at scale
- •Perform database versioning upgrades, query optimizations, and implement data retention strategies
- •Manage database migration tools including AWS DMS, Kinesis, and implement Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions with Kafka
- •Execute database schema changes using tools such as Percona, Liquibase, Doctrine, or Alembic ensuring zero downtime changes
- •Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries and indexing
- •Implement security policies, access controls, and ensure compliance with industry regulations (GDPR, HIPAA)
- •Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies, configure replication and failover for high availability, and respond to database incidents
Nice to Have
- •AWS Certified Database - Specialty or similar database/cloud certifications
- •Global database experience across multiple regions
- •MySQL proxy experience
- •Experience with Debezium or similar CDC tools
