    Requirements

    • Previous experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, or cloud governance
    • Deep cloud fluency including understanding of cross-AZ data transfer, NAT gateway costs, and instance family price-performance ratios
    • Kubernetes expertise with knowledge of cost allocation in K8s
    • Ability to communicate effectively with both engineers and finance teams
    • Bias for action with ability to write scripts to automate tagging hygiene
    • CI/CD awareness and understanding of how deployment patterns affect cost
    • Ability to speak SQL and CI/CD with engineers and pivot to forecasting and margin analysis with finance

    What You'll Do

    • Own the strategy and enable cost-aware engineering by building systems and attribution structures (tagging, showbacks) that give teams ownership of their impact
    • Partner with Finance to explain variances, maintain clean cost allocation, and help the business understand margins by product line
    • Shift FinOps left by moving cost conversations from billing cycle to design doc
    • Provide architectural advice on cost to engineers and be a credible resource for cost-related questions
    • Build systems that give teams autonomy to own their own margins, eliminating reactive cost scrambles
    • Create a culture where engineers make better cost decisions daily
    • Write automation and influence architecture to improve cost efficiency
    • Collaborate with senior engineers on major infrastructure decisions with significant financial impact

    Nice to Have

    • Experience with tools like Vantage, CloudHealth, or Kubecost
    • Experience with ClickHouse, Kafka, Postgres
    • Experience using SQL for querying cost data
    • Strong opinion on when not to use Spot instances
