Requirements

What You'll Do
- •Serve as primary communications partner to the CEO providing strategic counsel and direct support across internal and external communications
- •Build comprehensive engagement strategy spanning multiple and complex stakeholder groups
- •Develop, shape, and implement communication strategy for the CEO to advance Wikimedia Foundation's vision
- •Support external communications for other members of the executive team and Board of Trustees
- •Identify, shape, and execute opportunities to build thought leadership platforms for CEO and executives
- •Secure and prepare leaders for public speaking and media engagements
- •Develop communications materials such as speeches, remarks, talking points, social media posts, internal communications, briefing documents, and blogs
- •Develop key narratives and messaging strategies to increase awareness and understanding of Wikimedia projects
- •Work autonomously to develop thought leadership strategies and excellent written materials
- •Create connections across departments and teams within a globally-distributed, remote, matrixed organization
- •Develop and integrate executive communications tactics into overarching communications strategy
- •Proactively develop relationships throughout the organization and volunteer communities to surface trends
- •Write and ghostwrite speeches, op-eds, quotes, external statements, and blog posts
- •Guide social media strategy capturing tone and style of executives
- •Create consistent internal communications strategy including regular staff emails from the CEO
- •Raise profile of Wikimedia Foundation leadership by seeking earned media opportunities and speaking engagements
- •Leverage relationships with reporters and conference organizers to identify publications and venues for leaders
- •Follow technology trends and public narratives relevant to Wikimedia's work
- •Navigate crisis communications and prepare executives for sensitive or rapidly evolving situations
- •Pitch stories, engage press, and manage key relationships to drive results
- •Develop social media strategy customized for specific channels in collaboration with social media team
- •Manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong project management skills
- •Maintain systems and documentation for projects with multiple moving parts and stakeholders
- •Travel as needed and work across time zones
