Requirements
- •10+ years of software engineering experience including 3+ years in Architect, Staff or equivalent senior-IC role
- •Hands-on engineer-turned-architect who writes and reviews production code regularly
- •Experience designing, building and operating distributed, event-driven systems in production at scale and under regulatory scrutiny
- •Hands-on experience with Domain-Driven Design (strategic and tactical)
- •Familiarity with decentralised architectural governance, Architectural Advice Forum, RFCs and ADRs
- •Ability to lead by influence rather than authority
- •Experience in regulated fintech, payments or banking environments
- •Experience designing security-first architectures, threat modelling, secure-by-default patterns, defence in depth, identity, key and secret management
- •Strong perspective on modern AI/ML, LLMs, agents and applied AI in production
- •Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- •Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture, microservices, container-based 12-factor apps, fault tolerance, security and resilience
- •Strong CI/CD, automated testing and overall SDLC practices
- •Based in or near a CET-compatible timezone
- •Dedicated workspace and reliable high-speed internet connection

What You'll Do
- •Own and facilitate the Architectural Advice Forum (AAF), driving decentralised decision-making captured as ADRs
- •Build production-grade Proofs of Concept to de-risk new patterns and validate architectural ideas
- •Partner with the CTO on AI strategy, identifying opportunities and helping teams adopt AI responsibly
- •Own cross-cutting standardisation across backend, web and mobile engineering
- •Define and uphold engineering quality standards including testing, code review, observability, security, performance and production-readiness
- •Embed Security-First Architecture, setting threat-modelling and secure-by-default patterns
- •Champion Domain-Driven Design and Event-Driven Architecture
- •Work closely with SRE team on reliability, capacity, incident response, observability and platform evolution
- •Coach and mentor engineers across teams, leading by inspiration and influence
- •Surface and unblock systemic technical risks, technical debt and cross-team dependencies
- •Maintain engineering principles and Tech Radar, contribute to regulatory, security and risk conversations
- •Build a great place to work and develop innovative Bitcoin-based solutions
Nice to Have
- •Hands-on experience in crypto, Web3, custody or blockchain-based systems
- •Familiarity with Team Topologies and team interactions
- •Multi-platform standardisation experience across backend, web and mobile

- •Open-source contributions or external thought leadership
- •Familiarity with Python
