Requirements
- •J.D. from an accredited law school
- •Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
- •15+ years of legal experience with significant in-house experience at a high-growth technology company
- •Experience as General Counsel, Deputy GC, or VP of Legal at a scaled tech company
- •Deep expertise in AI and product law, commercial transactions, data privacy, M&A, and corporate governance
- •Experience advising on cutting-edge technology in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment
- •Experience building and leading legal teams in a fast-paced, async-heavy environment
- •Ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and directly
- •Genuine, empathetic, humble, and mission-driven team player
What You'll Do
- •Own Zapier's legal function and lead the legal team
- •Serve on the executive team
- •Set legal strategy to enable fast company growth and market entry
- •Lead and mentor a distributed legal team
- •Build AI-powered legal operations including playbooks and workflows
- •Manage outside counsel relationships and budgets
- •Lead legal strategy for AI products and navigate global AI regulations
- •Lead commercial legal team for customer agreements and partnerships
- •Own global data privacy compliance strategy and execution
- •Set strategic direction for global employment law matters
- •Lead corporate governance and serve as corporate secretary to the Board
- •Advise on capital structure, equity programs, and strategic transactions including M&A
- •Lead legal due diligence, structuring, and negotiation for M&A and investments

- •Experience in SaaS, platform, developer tools, or AI sectors
- •Experience building AI-powered legal workflows and operations
- •Fluency in AI legal strategy and operations at an adoptive or transformative level
